Lereshin Naicker is the head of Litigation and Disputes at Irwin & Co, and practises primarily in the fields of admiralty and maritime law, commercial litigation, insurance law, construction and engineering disputes, and complex dispute resolution.

Prior to co-founding Irwin & Co, Lereshin practised within leading Band 1 South African and global practice environments, where he gained exposure with working on matters involving shipowners, charterers, insurers, logistics operators, yacht manufacturers, contractors, corporate entities, and private clients in both the public and private sectors.

He has also been involved in matters concerning charterparties, marine insurance coverage disputes, business interruption claims, construction liability disputes, cargo recoveries, salvage and towage issues, and security proceedings within the South African admiralty jurisdiction.

Lereshin adopts a strategic and commercially focused approach to dispute resolution, with particular emphasis on procedural strategy, risk assessment, and the efficient management of complex litigation. He is known for his detailed and analytical approach to legal drafting, as well as his ability to navigate technically and commercially complex disputes in a practical and solution-oriented manner.

In addition to practice, Lereshin has previously been involved in legal education and academic support initiatives within the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s School of Law, where he lectured, mentored students, and assisted in legal writing and research programmes.

He is presently completing his second Master of Laws (LL.M), this time in Maritime Law, whilst holding an LL.B degree and an LL.M in Criminal Justice from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where he received multiple academic commendations and merit-based awards during the course of his studies.

He continues to practise in honour of the professional discipline, work ethic, and litigation standards instilled by his late mentor, Gary Rademeyer, whose influence remains foundational to his approach to legal practice.
